Fabric Grocery Bag, Baby Sweater, and 3 more Dishcloths

This has been a terrific week for my projects. I finished the baby sweater. It really came out better than I expected. I do love the yarn but I had my doubts about the pattern. But it was so easy. The sweater is knit in one piece from the neck down. Although it calls for knitting the sleeves on a straight needle and then sewing a seam, I decided to use my 5″ double pointed needles and made the sleeves in one piece. I love not having to sew it together!! I also have other yarn that this sweater will look good. I’m going to combine a solid for the stockinette part and a variegated for the seed stitch lower part. I think it will be nice.

Also, here’s a photo of today’s project. I’ve had this on my mind for almost a year. It’s a grocery bag made from a vintage table cloth. Good news is I should be able to get two more from the same tablecloth. The pattern will vary as I use different parts of the cloth. The way I lined it, it is actually reversible. Also, used a vintage hankie as the pocket on the inside. It really adds a special touch. I’m going to do a series of these bags with fabric that I have.

Made another bag today, but it’s not quite finished. Started as a placemat that I just loved the colors. Then I found some leather handles that I picked up somewhere along my travels. This one also is reversible and has a very interesting pocket on the inside or outside if you reverse it.

Still knitting dishcloths, made 3 last week. My projects are really shaping up!!

  1. I love that bag! We are using more reusable bags when we go to the grocery market instead of the paper or plastic… Is that a pattern of your own, or can it be found somewhere?

    Lovely!
