The weather was finally nice enough to venture out on an adventure to a yarn shop that is about an hour away from my home. It was a lovely trip and I’m so inspired by what I found there. Echo Valley Fibers is across the border in Pennsylvania. I was intrigued when I looked at their website and found that the shop is located in an old Post Office built in the late 1800’s.

I was greeted by Gwen, the owner when I entered the shop and their was so much to see that I didn’t know where to focus first. We had a lovely chat and then I began wandering through the many drawers, cubbies, and shelves filled with yarn. There were lots of samples too.

Notice that beautiful tin ceiling! The drawers filled with yarn and the cubbies. I was thrilled to find Kelbourne Yarns. They are one of my favorite yarns especially for hats. I purchased several skeins of Germantown for my Splendid Squares hat and for a cable hat that I’ve just designed.

I also purchased Kelbourne Andorra, a DK weight yarn for this hat that I’m writing up the pattern now.

To finish up my shopping, I couldn’t resist this Indulgence Hand painted yarn by KFI and the tapestry project bag by atenti.

And finally, as I was leaving the store, I noticed this unique wallpaper border and the charm of the front door.

It was a lovely afternoon and there’s a cafe within walking distance. Next time I visit, I’ll stop in there too.
