Knit Stitch Patterns

Knit Stitch Pattern Saturday

This week’s stitch pattern is another favorite of mine.  This is Tweed from the Big Book of Knitting Stitch Patterns.

This is a very simple stitch pattern with big results.  It repeats every four rows using one color in the first 2 rows and a second color in the next 2 rows.  For this swatch, I cast on 20 stitches on U.S. Size 7 needles using worsted weight cotton yarn.  The fabric is quite dense.

I originally used this stitch pattern in my Dress Dishcloth titled Let’s Visit Switzerland.  The pattern is part of the Let’s Travel Collection and also available as an individual pattern.

Later, I used it to create a carrying sleeve for my tablet.  I included more details in my post of August 14, 2013.

I plan on using this stitch pattern again in a tote bag, place mat, pillow cover, and possible a scarf.  I think this would knit up beautifully using a solid and a self striping, variegated, or tonal yarn.

How would you use this stitch?  What projects would you like to see with this stitch pattern?

Be sure to sign up to receive notice when I post new updates so that you are among the first to see what I knit with the stitch pattern.
