Today’s knit stitch pattern is called Stripes and Bands and I found it in the Big Book of Knit Stitch Patterns. It is a combination of slip stitches and knit and purl rows.
This swatch is a 6 inch square that I knit using a lovely yarn that I purchased at the Pittsburgh Creative Arts Festival in April. The yarn by Good for Ewe is a dk weight blend of Merino, Baby Llama, and Donegal wool. I cast on 38 stitches on a U.S. Size 5 knitting needle. I repeated the 4 row pattern 16 times.
This stitch pattern is a new favorite of mine and I have many ideas of how to incorporate it into my knitting projects. The slip stitch lines can be used in a variety of ways. I’ve already started to experiment with the using the slip stitch lines in other ways.
Any suggestions on how you would use this stitch pattern?
