Scarf and Mitts for the January Weather

January in New Jersey has been extremely cold! I recently finished designing and knitting the Cobblestone Lane scarf and mitts and I’ve been wearing them to keep warm.  You can find the patterns for both in my Ravelry shop.

Inspired by my Knit Stitch Pattern Saturday swatch, I designed this textured scarf with an easy to remember stitch repeat.  The scarf is knit on U.S. Size 9 knitting needles and using worsted weight yarn, it knits up to create a fabric full of warmth.

The matching mitts are knit in the round on U.S. Size 6 and Size 7 needles and use the same stitch pattern.

The yarn for this project was supplied by Spirit Trail Fiberworks.  Jennifer has a wonderful selection of yarns and her colorways are delightful.  I met Jennifer at the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival and again at the New York Sheep and Wool Festival where she had the scarf displayed in her booth.

Are you a scarf knitter? I am.  Scarves are a favorite item for me to knit and I always keep a supply on hand for gifts.  This stitch pattern is ideal for the advanced beginner or the experienced knitter who wants a project that just allows them to relax and knit.

Hope you’re keeping warm this January!
